KESS3 BENCH Support for Locked BMW/MINI Bosch MD1/MG1 ECUs
Alientech has expanded KESS3 coverage for protected Bosch MDG1 ECUs from the DDE8 and DME8 generations. With Upgrade 3.44, workshops and tuners can work directly in BENCH mode on a wide range of BMW, MINI and Alpina vehicles produced from 2021 onward.
What is new in KESS3 Upgrade 3.44?
Released on August 18, 2026, the update introduces new BENCH protocols for Bosch MD1CP032, MD1CS001, MG1CS024, MG1CS049 and MG1CS201 ECUs. These units belong to the DDE8 and DME8 generations used across many latest-generation BMW Group petrol and diesel powertrains.
The key advantage is the connection method. Technicians can access the ECU directly through its connector in BENCH mode without opening the control unit. Compared with more invasive procedures, this creates a more direct workflow and reduces operational complexity when working with protected electronics.

BMW, MINI and Alpina coverage
Alientech lists extensive BMW coverage, ranging from the 1-, 2-, 3-, 4-, 5-, 6 GT- and 8-Series to X1, X2, X3, X4, X5, X6 and X7 SUVs, including selected BMW M applications. The release also covers multiple MINI Clubman, Cooper and Countryman variants, plus Alpina models such as the XD3, XD4, B3 and B4.
Actual compatibility depends on the vehicle variant, engine and exact ECU identification. Before accepting a job, technicians should use the Vehicle List in Alientech Suite to confirm the protocol, connection mode and functions available for the specific application.
Why BENCH access matters to a workshop
On high-value, latest-generation ECUs, a controlled process matters as much as coverage. Alientech Suite provides guided procedures while KESS3 works directly from the ECU connector. This helps workshops approach newer BMW and MINI vehicles with a clearer workflow and expand their ECU remapping services in the premium segment.
Support in the vehicle list does not make every job identical. A stable power supply, the correct cable, the correct connection diagram and strict compliance with the procedure shown in the Suite remain essential before reading or writing an ECU.
Availability and requirements
The new protocols are available to KESS3 users with CAR BENCH/BOOT activation and an active subscription. Existing users should update Alientech Suite and verify their subscription status. Workshops considering KESS3 should first define their target vehicles and select an activation package that matches their service plan.
