Hino P24DA Fault Code: PM Sensor Exhaust Sample Error (2 digit Diagnosis Code 07)

Technical description

  • PM sensor head clogging is detected from the self-diagnosis
  • function of the PM sensor.

Description of malfunction

  • Failure of the PM sensor is detected.

DTC set condition

DTC Detection Condition:

  • PM sensor is active.
  • Battery power supply voltage is in the range of 10 V to 16 V.
  • Starter switch remains ON (does not active for starter) for more than 5 seconds.

Judgment Criteria:

  • Abnormal is detected by the error diagnosis from PM sensor.

Reset condition

  • After normal operation is restored and the starter switch is turned LOCK.

Indication, warning or system control regulation when the dtc is set

MIL: ON

Symptoms on the vehicle when the dtc is set

Symptoms on the vehicle due to backup control (fail safe function):

  • Overlooking of the DPF damage.

Pre-inspection work

  • Check that the battery voltage is in the normal range.

After-inspection work

  • Clear all past DTCs.
  • Check that no DTC is stored after test drive.

Possible causes

  • Failure of the PM sensor.
  • Illegal modification of the PM sensor.
  • Abnormality in the DPR filter.

Inspection procedure

Troubleshooting steps

Step 1: Check the DTC detected (Engine ECU).

  1. Set the starter switch to the “LOCK” position.
  2. Connect the vehicle to the diagnostic tool.
  3. Set the starter switch to the “ON” position.
  4. Select [Engine] and check if any DTC other than P24DA has been detected.

Has a DTC other than P24DA been detected?

Yes Go to the diagnostic procedure of a related DTC.

Clear all past DTCs.Check that no DTC is detected after test drive

No Go to Step 2

 

Step 2:  Check the PM sensor

Remove the PM sensor to check if the head is normal. Check if the head has been modified illegally

Were any failures found?

Yes The part has been illegally modified. Please ask the customer to restore the original condition. Perform diagnosis again after that.
No Go to Step 3

Step 3: Check the PM sensor. Check the slit and hole of the PM sensor head for clogging and collapse.

Were any failures found?

Yes Go to Step 4
No Replace the PM sensor. Clear all past DTCs. Check that no DTC is detected after test drive.

Step 4: Inspect the DPR filter

    1. Remove the DPR filter and check if there is no soot, damages or other abnormalities at its end
    2. Insert the check probe from the rear surface to inspect the inside
  • Check probe inserting depth.
STANDARD VALUES
175 – 185 mm {6.890 – 7.283 in.}

Were any failures found?

Yes Replace the DPR filter and PM sensor. Clear all past DTCs. Check that no DTC is detected after test drive.
No Replace the PM sensor. Clear all past DTCs. Check that no DTC is detected after test drive.
